Work for Autumn 2011

Redlands Lane junction
Redlands Lane will be reopened to traffic on the 23rd of December. Through January work will continue with the installation of the toucan crossing and the installation of new traffic lights either side of the bridge. Occasional temporary traffic lights will be required to allow the works in this area to be completed. There is a possibility of a further short duration road closure to complete work adjacent to the old bridge. This will only be necessary if it is assessed that the safety of pedestrians, motorists and the workforce will be compromised by keeping the road open to complete this work. Please refer to the traffic information page for updates.

Redlands Lane to Newgate Lane
Construction of footways and bus stops will be ongoing through the winter period with installation of the bus shelters at the end of January. Other works include the installation of the BRT access barriers.

Newgate Lane/Palmerston Drive Junction
Again construction of footways and bus stops will be ongoing through the winter period with installation of the shelters at the end of January. Other works include the installation of the BRT access barriers

Newgate Lane to Wych Lane
Construction of the access footpath and ramp from Gosport Road (opposite the bus depot) to the BRT bus stop will be completed in January. Other work to be completed through this section include safety fencing, badger fencing, bus stops and installation of columns for the CCTV.

Wych Lane
Wych Lane will be reopened to traffic on the 23rd of December. Through January work will continue with the widening of the footpath adjacent to the allotments. Occasional temporary traffic lights will be required to complete some of the work in this area. Other works include the installation of the BRT access barriers.

Work through this section is concentrated at Gregson Bridge, Tichborne Way junction and Cameron Close subway. Other work through this section includes the installation of columns for the CCTV.

Gregson Bridge
The retaining walls in each of the 4 sides of the bridge are close to completion which will then allow the construction of the access footpaths to Mountbatten Close, Montgomery Road, Harwood Close and Keyes Close. Other works include the completion of the bus stops.
