Civil engineering contractor BAM Nuttall has become the first UK Company in its sector to receive the coveted PAS 1192 accreditation companywide, awarded by Lloyds Register for BIM Level 2 certification.
Four years ago BAM Nuttall embarked on their BIM journey that has changed how they do things within the civil engineering market. They have embraced the use of digital technologies under a collective approach of Building Information Modelling (BIM), supported by partners, Autodesk and Bentley.
BAM Nuttall realised that this new way of working needed to grow, building on the full potential of digital construction and a common data environment to deliver added value and LEAN workflow processes. Temporary works designs are routinely modelled, workflows automatically schedule components from models and quality records are captured digitally, allowing site teams to work more efficiently. BAM Nuttall's journey to date has enabled the company to gain Lloyds Register BIM Level 2 certification across the whole business, but it does not end there. Advances in technology and cultural change mean the journey continues and BAM Nuttall will be collaborating with supply chain partners and other stakeholders to deliver this new method of working. BAM Nuttall's aspiration in its ability to capture information is no longer a dream of futuristic technologies, it is here now and is helping to meet client expectations.
Head of BIM Implementation, Ivor Barbrook commented: "We have arrived at this important milestone in our BIM journey. Our certification uniquely covers PAS1192 standards for all of our civil engineering activities. We are proud to be the first Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to gain this full accreditation"
