Join BAM at Digital Construction Week

BAM is proud to once again be a headline sponsor of this year’s digital construction week at London’s Excel.

For over 150 years BAM has been driving innovation across the industry. Today we are building on this rich heritage, by helping our clients and supply chain to realise the opportunities and benefits digital can provide.

Join us at digital construction week to find out more about our approach and discover how we are continuing to foster innovation in the construction industry and on our projects.

We have an exciting programme of activities including speakers at the thought leadership conference and seminar streams, stand based masterclass talks and interactive demonstrations.

Stand Activities

British Antarctic Survey demo rig

Try the BAM British Antarctic Survey demo rig on our stand and see if you have the skills to carry out this complex project in challenging conditions.

How we are using the demo rig to deliver the project

At Rothera Wharf we have a specific challenge; to dismantle an existing wharf prior to constructing a newer larger wharf. The structure must be dismantled in a very complex sequence using 90T, 30m long reach excavators digging down 10m at 20m outreach and using demolition shears underwater. Due to the very remote location and short weather window for construction we aim to reduce learning curve, detect clashes and safety issues early by doing the work virtually before we mobilise to site.

We used the 3D design, temporary works and methodology visualisation models already produced and took it a stage further to gamify the content using game development software (Unity). Our key goal is to familiarise the experienced drivers with the job, not to train them how to operate a long reach excavator. This means we also get the full benefit of their experience, helping us to optimise our methodology and manage the project risks. The drivers we are employing often work internationally and in remote locations. Therefore accessibility to the demo rig was important. As a result we kept it simple so that the game can be operated on any laptop using a standard Xbox controller.

The BAM Nuttall learning camera

How do you continually monitor an unconnected, legacy critical piece of equipment or one trapped amongst a mesh of scaffolding? How do you know something is working as it should? Discover how BAM Nuttall and Iotic are addressing this by creating their vision of the “Smart Site Office”, which provides an overview of everything going on at a site. Come and find out more on the BAM stand.

ConTech partners

Want to find out more about how the latest technologies such as AI, AR and lasers can be applied to your site? Why not come and meet our ConTech partners who will be carrying out a series of demonstrations to showcase their latest products.
