The depot employs over 40 people including mechanics, electricians, fabricator welders as well as various other trade and support staff.

For the past 20 years, the team have worked tirelessly together, developing many new procedures and safety features which have resulted in better acceptance of work practices.

The introduction of Don't Walk By and Beyond Zero have assisted in the promotion of these new practices and have had the largest impact, changing the culture and the way we live our lives, both at work and at home, by assisting colleagues, family and friends.

Embedding Don't Walk By and Beyond Zero has highlighted the need, not just to produce standards and procedures, but to actively promote health, safety and wellbeing to the individuals who carry out these activities, dramatically improving communication throughout the team and empowering those who carry out the activities to have a greater say in how the works are carried out safely.

"Over the past twenty years I have seen so many positive changes to the safety and culture in the business; these changes are driven by our full team who have shown true dedication and enthusiasm to achieve the very best.

I look forward to the future where we continue to improve workplace safety and show tangible results in the team's health, safety and wellbeing. This outstanding achievement shows the results of working together as one team with the same goal and ambitions, which everyone is part off."

Alan Farmer, Depot Manager, Kilsyth.

"What Kilsyth has achieved is as a result of developing a culture that encourages people to learn, to share, to continuously challenge and to act as one. It has been gained through visible leadership, individual dedication and continuous commitment.

By ensuring that those that work for and with BAM feel part of a team, Kilsyth have created an environment where people not only go home safely, but where they can enhance their lives be it from their personnel role development or supporting others".

Steve Jarvis, Director Plant and Fleet.

Albert Einstein once said "the world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking". Kilsyth have achieved just that over the last 20 years and although there are many challenges ahead as we move into a digital world with new processes, it stands as an example of what can be achieved.
