Sustainability Report 2009/10

About this report

We want this report to be relevant and interesting to people that care about our business. To this end, we held focus groups with employees, carried out interviews with suppliers, and reviewed customer questionnaires to find out what people really want to know about BAM Nuttall.

We used the feedback from these discussions to select what content to include, and what to leave out. We used it as well to shape the priorities given to items on the different reader homepages.

We have not been able to include all topics people raised in this first year report. We aim to develop these further in future reports.

We have not referenced standard frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), although we have drawn from any sources that are in line with the interests and priorities of those audiences.

But we also heard that, for many people in these groups, a report is a source to be consulted when you want to know something very specific. But what people really wanted was ongoing communication, through channels that they are used to using.

Accordingly, this report stands alongside a communications programme between BAM Nuttall and its main stakeholders. This report is the reference point, but our focus is on how we develop all of those effective communication channels over the coming year to include timely, relevant and important information. Our employee newspaper, our monthly supplier communication, and a host of other communications are an integral part of our sustainability report.
