Sustainability report | Environment | Meeting the challenge of climate change Meeting the challenge of climate change
Climate change changes everything for our business. We, our customers and our suppliers all need to come to terms with the scale of that change.
Our staff want to know what that means for how they do their job - as well as wanting to be reassured that there is a good quality of life for their own children and grandchildren in the future.
The government has set a target of 80% fewer carbon emissions by 2050. It described its goals for our sector in its Sustainable Construction Strategy, published June 2008. For instance, it expects a 15% reduction in carbon emissions from the construction sector by 2012.
BAM Nuttall is committed to playing its part. It is engaged, for instance, with the CBI's Construction Group on Climate Change, which it wants to see becoming a focus for leadership in the sector. It is also a member of the Prince of Wales' May Day network.
BAM Nuttall aims to be a source of solutions for our customers and suppliers.
No-one knows exactly how the deep cuts of the future will be achieved. But we know that we are all on the journey. We will do best if we are working on the solutions needed as early as possible.
