BAM Nuttall Wins Supplier of the Year at Scottish Transport Awards

29 October, 2020

BAM Nuttall has picked up the coveted title of ‘Supplier of the Year’ at the Scottish Transport Awards 2020.

BAM Nuttall was praised for its outstanding work to deliver the rail improvements between Aberdeen and Inverness during the last four years. In the last 18-months, the Highland Enhancements team has completed a challenging blockade between Huntly and Aberdeen and, in the last few weeks, completed a brand new station at Kintore. The project has delivered more frequent trains, more seats and faster journeys for rail customers in the north-east of Scotland.

In parallel, the team has completed enhancements of the Highland Mainline, creating additional capacity and faster journeys between Perth and Inverness.

Jerry Dickson, Operations Director for Scotland said: “BAM Nuttall’s work in the north of Scotland over the last four years has dramatically improved the passenger experience for rail customers. We have delivered our Highlands Enhancements activities in close collaboration with our clients, Network Rail, and all of our partners within Scotland’s Railway. We have done it all with consideration for rail passengers, local stakeholders and our impact on the environment.

“In 2020, we have faced unprecedented challenges and we have had to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances. Despite the restrictions that coronavirus has put on our operations, we still managed to meet all of our contractual deadlines for Kintore, delivering for Scotland’s Railway and putting passengers first.

“I’m extremely proud of the team’s achievements over the last few years and to win Supplier of the Year in 2020 feels particularly special. You can be sure that we will celebrate together properly when circumstances allow.”

BAM Nuttall's Scotland rail team is a key contractor for Scotland’s Railway, with a leading role on three framework contracts including Highlands Enhancements, Renewals and Enhancements and SIGI. The Scottish Transport Awards are judged by a mix of academics, government officials and transport industry leaders. They were held behind closed doors for the first time this year.

BAM Nuttall was also shortlisted in the ‘Team of the Year’ category for Kintore Station.
