Following the announcement in October that Ian Parish is to retire at the end of this year, I am delighted to be able to share with you that we have appointed Huw Jones to the role of Executive Director for our Civils segment.

Huw is a chartered civil engineer, who joined BAM in 2009 following previous roles with both contracting and client organisations in the industry. He initially joined as a project manager in the South West of England before moving on to various roles across the rail division. Huw subsequently became the Division Director for Rail in 2017 before being promoted to his current role as Managing Director for Transport in April this year. What makes this announcement even more special is that we are appointing a leader from within our own business, which shows the pipeline of talent we have within BAM UK & Ireland. With Ian leaving it was essential we appointed someone who understands our civil engineering business, and also someone who has the passion to drive the organisation forward in the coming years.

It was clear to me, and the rest of the BAM Executive Committee, that Huw was the right person for the role and I have no doubt he will bring a new level of passion and commitment to the segment and help us grow our civil engineering business in a sustainable manner in the years ahead.

Huw lives in South Wales, is married to Rachel and they have two children.

I am sure you will want to join me in wishing Huw all the best in his new role, and once again thank Ian for his commitment to BAM and wish him a happy retirement. To ensure a smooth handover Ian will remain in the business during January 2023.
