SAFETY

At BAM we believe that “Your Safety is My Safety”. We all work together to create a safe work environment from which we all go home safe every day.

We all look after one another and put the safety of everyone as our number one priority. We are all responsible and, if we see something that doesn’t look right, we have a culture which means we are confident to raise concerns and are inclined to hear them.

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve safety. The more we use digital construction techniques, the more we can move people away from potentially dangerous situations. From fatigue monitoring helmets to ensuring everyone has the correct PPE for the job, we are always looking for new ways to keep our people safe.

We don’t just believe in performing to industry standards, we want to push constant improvement.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

We are fully committed to supporting, promoting and maintaining the mental health and wellbeing of all of our people, through training, workplace practices and a strong focus on work-life balance. We actively challenge the stigmas and taboos surrounding mental health, making it ok to be not ok.

Our wellbeing programmes are award winning, gaining Investors in People Gold standard and the new Investors in People Health & Wellbeing award, and include:

  • Volunteering and wellbeing days for all employees (in additional to annual leave)
  • Employee Assistance Programme that provides on-line, telephone and one to one counselling 24/7
  • Network of trained mental health first aiders who are available at all sites and offices to provide advice, support and signposting on mental health and related issues
  • Regular occupational health checks.
  • Support towards reducing excessive work mileage.
  • Support and rehabilitation for employees with long-term physical or mental health related illness.
  • Discounted gym membership and ‘cycle to work’ schemes.
